90% of users in London are facilitated with access to fibre-optic cables high-speed internet. However, fibre cables are mainly deployed to connecting exchanges. Copper cables are used to connect homes with local exchanges.
There is an ongoing project which is led by the London Mayor and includes Vodafone and Transport for London (TfL). Under the project, the underground system and public building will be used as a base for providing fibre optics to homes. The estimated investment for the project is about £10 million.
