It would be quite difficult to cancel the 2020 Olympics games. Japan has already spent billions, and millions have already been spent on various sponsorships. I do not think that influential investors would allow cancelling such a mega event.
However, there are strong chances that it can be postponed.
Yes, it is highly likely to get it postponed. Canada is out and others are considering to withdraw as well. Japan PM is not seriously considering it as an option and requested the Olympics committee to postpone it to 2021.
It is highly irresponsible that the Olympics committee has not yet come with a timely and decisive decision.
It is leading to uncertainty for athletes and their training.
