Coronavirus has affected our lives and society. It has left a strong impact on our present and probably on the future. Besides other effects, it has also stimulated our imagination. We should see some effect on both English prose and poetry.
So far, what are the best poems written so far on coronavirus?
One which I found nice one is the below:
Lock down
I can see people queuing outside supermarkets, standing 2m apart,
Food shelves were empty like classrooms, panic at the start.
Seeing family upon a screen,
Friends from school you haven’t seen
Listening to the sound of silence, as still as the night,
People all in their houses, holding each other tight.
The sound of people busily buying food,
Families spending time together, lightening the mood.
The smell of fear from people not wanting to leave their homes,
Staying in their gardens, talking to their gnomes!
Helping in the kitchen, it smells like chocolate cake,
Dreaming of all the Easter cards and cookies we could make.
The worry in my belly, struggling to know what’s going on,
Hoping that my Grandma and Grandads won’t be gone.
My heart beating quickly deep within my chest,
Thinking about friends and family as well as all the rest.
Licking delicious chocolate from my fingers, as an early Easter treat,
Like the frantic feeling when you want much more to eat.
I may be feeling lonely like a house on a tall hill,
But I’ll stay inside forever to stop others getting ill.

“Lockdown is a scary time,
So I thought that I could write a rhyme,
To put a smile on lots of faces,
From around the world in lots of places.
“Lots of time with my family,
Fills me with enormous glee.
Home school teaching from my mum,
With my brother who’s a pain in the bum.
“Missing my bike rides and playing out,
It really makes me want to shout.
Nannies and grandads can’t see me,
But safety really is the key.
“Watching movies on Disney Plus,
Stops us making such a fuss.
Eating ice cream in the garden,
Makes us burp but we say pardon.
“Missing our friends and all our teachers,
Watching YouTube to see who features,
In the Franche videos that set us challenges.
Hope noone fails and ends up in bandages.
“One day when this will come to an end,
Hopefully we won’t have driven mum round the bend.
We will look back and cherish the thought,
Of the lessons we learnt and the ones we were taught.”

Most coronavirus poetry is written by kids. As they are more imaginative and likely to be more stressed.
Title of the Poem: Go Away Go Away Coronavirus
Oh coronavirus, coronavirus
What you are doing to all of us
Go away and go away
And never come back this way
We all tired of you
And so, of the long queue
You deserted parks and schools
But listen we are shining like jewels
On doors and windows
You now see so many rainbows
One thing I must say
You must go away!
