Infotainment is a combination of information & entertainment. The vehicle entertainment market has passed through a long journey, where it started with conventional vehicle entertainment systems comprised of devices such as radio, cassettes, and CD players.
The infotainment came to existence as a result of advances in technology as well growing market for personalised entertainment and connectivity. Intenet and display screens further revolutionised the vehicle entertainment market.
But is there any ongoing improvement in the infotainment market? How are the major automakers and suppliers progressing with the in-vehicle infotainment market?
One of the recent examples is the partnership between LG and Qualcomm under which both will create an In-vehicle infotainment platform for connected cars.
The platform will be interconnected through the internet for communication between vehicles for other safety features measures as well.
Under the partnership, LG will be responsible for the establishment of internet connectivity, interface, screen setting while QUALCOMM will provide its automotive chip as a base for all solutions. The platform is set to display in Consumer Electronics Show, held in Las Vegas, in 2020.
